Each LabVIEW Suite is customized for an application area and designed to make you successful.

The suites include related NI device drivers and are shipped on USB 3.0 media to speed up your installation. When you combine our new USB 3.0 media with a solid state hard drive, you can install a LabVIEW suite and all the relevant drivers in under twenty minutes.

The LabVIEW Automated Test Suite offers the power of LabVIEW combined with the ready-to-run, customizable test executive, NI TestStand, and the intelligent switch management and routing application, NI Switch Executive.

The LabVIEW Embedded Control and Monitoring Suite features LabVIEW and the recommended add-ons specifically for building embedded control and monitoring systems on NI reconfigurable I/O (RIO) hardware. The LabVIEW FPGA Module extends the LabVIEW graphical development platform to target FPGAs on NI RIO hardware, and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module builds on LabVIEW to deliver a programming environment for creating reliable, deterministic, and stand-alone embedded systems.

The LabVIEW HIL and Real-Time Test Suite combines LabVIEW with NI VeriStand, a configuration-based software environment for efficiently creating real-time testing applications. It also includes the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA modules.

NASA and Lockheed Martin engineers needed three test systems for performing structural tests on their Orion multi-purpose crew vehicle, and they needed the systems in six months. G Systems, a leading integrator of test and measurement automation solutions, used off-the-shelf NI hardware and software to develop all three systems within the short delivery timeframe.

 

The three test systems developed by G Systems for the NASA spacecraft include:

 

  • Pressurization and vent system for automated control of the pressure within the vehicle based on NI CompactRIO hardware and LabVIEW Real-Time software.


  • Data acquisition system to synchronize over 1,800 channels of analog data for real-time collection of structural data as well as real-time calculation of virtual channels and analysis of limits and alarms. This system was powered by a high-performance, multicore NI real-time controller connected to SCXI and PXI DAQ equipment.

 

  • Data distribution system for real-time and post-test distribution of synchronized parametric, video, and audio data to test controllers and data clients. Engineers developed this system to provide a rich user experience with configurable GUIs developed in LabVIEW while interfacing to multiple networked resources.

 

These three structural test systems illustrate the power of using NI’s graphical system design approach of integrating hardware and software to rapidly develop advanced test and measurement applications.

Today we introduced eight new relay cards that expand the NI SwitchBlock line of high-density switching solutions for PXI systems. The NI SwitchBlock cards were designed specifically for demanding automated test systems with large numbers of channels to provide an intuitive option for switch configuration, routing, programming and maintenance in a variety of test applications.

 

The set of new relay cards offers additional simultaneous connections and new differential measurement capabilities to create a custom matrix of relays that meets engineers’ specific requirements. All cards integrate with LabVIEW and NI Switch Executive switch management software to give engineers the ability to graphically configure their switch systems. They also include the new NI Switch Health Center software, which increases long-term system reliability by automatically running onboard diagnostics. NI SwitchBlock includes an expandable carrier that accommodates up to six relay cards while occupying just four slots in a PXI chassis. This gives engineers the ability to combine up to four NI SwitchBlock carriers to create internally routed matrices with as many as 8,832 crosspoints with a single PXI chassis.
